Icebreaker One is committed to contributing to important, future-focused conversations, workshops, events and decision-making processes. We bring relevant knowledge, experience, and expertise across data governance, trust frameworks, AI, sustainable finance, energy, water, and cross-sector data sharing.
Providing policy and standards leadership, and engaging with regulators, government, and industry to shape the standards that underpin digital markets, is at the core of what we do.
What we contribute
Our team regularly contributes keynotes, panel sessions, workshops, roundtables, advisory sessions, and written inputs. Topics include data governance for net zero, Trust Frameworks, AI and data sovereignty, Smart Data Schemes, cross-sector interoperability, and the practical realities of operating data infrastructure at market scale.
Recent engagements include COP, London Climate Action Week, Ofgem and industry consultations, and sector events across energy, water, finance, insurance, and agriculture.
How we decide
As a non-profit, our capacity to participate meaningfully depends on whether the request aligns with our strategic priorities and on the value and impact of our involvement, including representation for our members and community. We carefully consider whether participation is appropriate, valuable to IB1, and likely to shape policy, practice, or future outcomes.
We strongly support engagement in activities that advance open data governance, net zero infrastructure, and cross-sector collaboration. We prioritise engagements where IB1’s contribution will have a tangible influence on decisions, standards, or policy.
Fees and support
Attending and contributing to events requires time, expertise, and resources. The simplest way to support us is to join as a Constellation champion: https://ib1.org/champions.
Our approach to fees reflects this:
Corporate and commercial events: A speaking fee or honorarium is expected. This recognises the expertise, preparation, and opportunity cost involved in meaningful contributions from a small, specialist team.
Public sector, regulatory, and policy events: We participate actively in regulatory consultations, parliamentary hearings, government workshops, and public policy forums. These are core to our mission and typically do not carry a fee, though we welcome support for travel and expenses where available.
Non-profit, academic, and community events: We are open to contributing without a fee where the event aligns with our mission and the request is proportionate to our capacity. We may ask whether any speaker support is available.
IB1 member events: Contributions to member organisations and Constellation events are part of our core service and do not carry a fee.
We reserve the right to waive or adjust fees based on context, alignment, and impact. If you are unsure, just ask.
How to request
Please contact ea@ib1.org with the following:
Event name and date including confirmed or provisional status.
Format such as keynote, panel, workshop, roundtable, written input, or advisory session.
Audience including approximate size, sector, and seniority.
Topic or brief and why you think IB1’s contribution would be valuable.
Any fee or support available including speaker fees, travel, accommodation, or expenses.
We aim to respond within five working days. For time-sensitive requests, please note the deadline in your message.
