Champion tiers sit between free Constellation membership and full organisational membership. Each step unlocks more access, more recognition, and more active involvement.
You believe that trusted, open data infrastructure is necessary for net zero. You work in a sector where data sharing governance matters. You want to signal that publicly, with your name attached, and contribute something real to make it happen.
The Advocacy Champion tier is for anyone who wants to go on record as an endorser of the IB1 Icebreaker Principles. Your name and organisation appear on the IB1 website. You get a digital badge to use on your IB1.io profile and LinkedIn. And IB1 sends you swag, because advocates deserve acknowledgement that lasts longer than a notification.
For SMEs and non-profits the rate drops to £7 per month. For larger organisations it is £15, which is less than a couple of drinks at a sector conference and claims back easily against expenses.
The Icebreaker Principles already have an endorsement page on ib1.org. Becoming an Advocacy Champion gives that endorsement a commercial form and a formal acknowledgement from IB1. It costs about the same as a professional directory listing and carries considerably more weight.
You work with data governance, smart data, digital infrastructure, or sustainability reporting in a professional capacity. You want to develop your expertise in IB1’s Trust Framework methodology, get a recognised credential, and bring your immediate colleagues into the network.
The Practice Champion tier gives you a short practitioner quiz covering the IB1 Trust Framework, NOVA architecture, and scheme governance. Pass it and you receive a CPD-claimable practitioner badge. Most professional bodies accept this kind of structured learning as continuing development, which means the cost of this tier often qualifies for professional development budgets without the need for separate approval.

Practice Champion is particularly useful for consultancies, advisory firms, and in-house teams working on data strategy or regulatory compliance. The CPD badge and Open Net Zero directory listing create a visible professional alignment.
You are actively trying to bring data sharing infrastructure into your organisation, your clients, or your sector. You want to be in the room when use cases are being developed, when bids are being scoped, and when IB1 is looking for founding organisations for new Icebreaking programmes.
The Bid Champion tier is IB1’s commercial on-ramp for individuals who are doing the work of building a case for membership inside their organisation. IB1 currently spends very significant time co-developing use cases and supporting bids with people in exactly this position: Bid Champions establishes the principle that active co-development with IB1 has value even before organisational membership.
You get access to live bid calls and use case development sessions on IB1.io. You join co-development conversations directly with the IB1 team, and your Bid Champion status is the natural starting point for the conversation about what full IB1 Membership would look like for your organisation. Most business development or commercial budgets will cover fees with minimal internal approval.
Bid Champion is the tier for people who are already doing the work: it’s not a passive membership. If you are in procurement conversations, co-designing a use case, or planning a co-bid for public funding, this is the tier that recognises that engagement formally and gives IB1 a commercial basis to invest time with you in return.
