The partnership comes during a critical evolution of the UK energy sector, as organisations look to harness the value of data sharing to support innovation, improve interoperability and unlock new services.

Together, IB1 and Accenture will explore opportunities across data governance, data sharing, AI assurance and sustainability verification, building on existing relationships and opening up new areas for collaboration.

Accenture brings their deep client relationships and delivery capability, while IB1 brings its market-neutral convening, established cross-sector network spanning finance, energy and water, and live operational trust services.

Tom Rogers, Managing Director, Energy Networks at Accenture UK&I said “Data and AI are crucial for delivering affordable clean power in the UK and for unlocking economic growth. We are really excited to work with IB1 on this important mission.”

Alban Tarlet, Managing Director, Utilities at Accenture UK&I said “Utilities must deliver more capital investment, with greater resilience, under closer scrutiny than ever. That is only possible if the right data reaches the right people at the right time. Working with IB1, we can help organisations embed data sharing as an operational capability “.

Gavin Starks, IB1 CEO, added, “IB1’s role has been, and continues to be, helping everyone agree common components businesses can implement across policy, legal, technical, definitions and communications. Working with leading consultancies will deliver interoperability at scale, reducing risk and enabling innovation. The arrival of AI accelerates this work.”

The collaboration reflects a shared mission to ensure that decisions being made today about data sharing, interoperability and the future of digital infrastructure will have a lasting impact on the UK energy market, and beyond.
